Bubba’s Coffee Shop in Baan Tai has quickly risen to the top in the competitive world of coffee shops in Koh Phangan. This is due to the great coffee they serve as well as their food, service and the ambience of the coffee shop.
Bubba’s has it’s shop front on the road. From the outside the small coffee shop doesn’t seem that special but step inside and you soon change your mind. The small cafe has a shabby chic interior. There is crochet on the walls to buy. The counter is made of old wood as are the tables for the customers.
The staff speak good English and are happy to help in any way they can. The ambiance is enhanced by carefully selected tunes. At the back there is a small garden with mountain views for those who like al fresco dining and a cigarette.
Naturally, the star on the menu is the coffee. It is organic and comes from Chiang Mai. It is roasted and ground and quickly shipped to Koh Phangan. The barista at Bubba’s Coffee Shop clearly knows what he is doing as the coffee is delicious. The shop offers espresso, latte, cappuccino, ristretto, machiato, flat white and mocha.
The food is excellent, with many rave reviews. For breakfast they offer granola, muesli, chia pudding, homemade bread, pancakes and avocado with toast. Those looking for something more substantial can choose from egg benedict, English breakfast (called the ‘hangover cure’), shaksuka, pulled pork and chicken bagel. All these dishes have been well thought out. It is refreshing to see a food outlet have a smallish menu and resist the temptation to just add on a bunch of Thai classics to pad out the list.
However, Bubba’s is not just about organic ingredients and healthy breakfasts and lunches. They also serve an eclectic selection of alcoholic beverages that include infused room, boozy smoothies, homemade ginger beer, Belgium bootled beers and espresso martini.
All of this makes Bubba’s Coffee Shop the ideal place to hang out, recover from the night before and perhaps gently build up for another wild night out in Baan Tai!
You can find Bubba’s Coffee Shop on the main Baan Tai Road, just opposite the pier.
Bubba’s is open from 7am to 6pm
