Moontribe is a clothes shop located in Baan Tai. The shop sells men’s and women’s fashion clothes. The concept of the shop is to compliment the dance scene on the island. The shop has made it through its first year of business and will hopefully prosper in the future.
Moontribe Progressive Fashion Store is a small shop located just before the turning for Thong Nai Pan. It is on the same side of the road as the Baan Tai 7-11. The owners are Jo and Sandra. Jo is probably better known by his DJ moniker of Jo Moontribe. He is very much involved in the Koh Phangan music scene. He decided in 2014 to set up a shop to supply clothes for the party people on the island.
Obviously party folk who hit the parties in Haad Rin and Baan Tai have their own progressive fashion to attend trance, progressive house and techno parties, but for those semi-permanent set living in Koh Phangan it can be hard to get the latest fashions.
The shop imports clothes from Bali. Prices start at 580 Thai Baht for a top. There are short skirts, cross back dresses, crop jackets, men’s hoodies and men’s baggy pants. The clothes look cool. Well-known brands such as Psylo, High, Buddhaful, Luna and Kurage are featured in the shop.
If you go onto the shop’s Facebook page you will see the clothes modelled by several of the beautiful young things that make up the Koh Phangan party scene. The shop also puts on fashion shows to promote its clothes.
The clothes styles are described as ‘tribal, urban street and trance wear’. This might not mean much to many people. Indeed the whole fashion thing has to be taken with a pinch of salt. One woman might find the styles cool and cutting edge; another might find them dated and far from ‘progressive’. The prices, however, are reasonable and the clothes are good quality. Those looking for a new dress, top or something cool for a party should head down to Moontribe Progressive Fashion Store.

During the low season the shop is only open 2 days a week to coincide with a party. At busier times of the year the shop has regular opening times. Send them an email or check the Facebook page if you want to make sure you catch them open.
