Resorts in Baan Tai
Baan Tai stretches from the start of Thongsala in the west to Bankai in the east. Not only is it a very long beach there is also plenty of flat land on the inland side of the coastal road where several resorts are located.
Most resorts still have the traditional beach bungalow. The cheapest bungalows just have a fan and cold water shower. The luxury bungalows include air-con, hot water shower (and sometimes a bath tub), cable TV, fridge and safety deposit box.
Resorts with Swimming Pools
The beach at Baan Tai has fine white sand and is fringed with lush vegetation and coconut palms. The beach is great for sunbathing and relaxing. The beach is quiet and there is plenty of room for everyone. It covers much of the southern coast of Koh Phangan. It is broken up into wide bays with rocky headlands. Near Haad Rin is a pier with fishing boats.
The swimming in the sea at Baan Tai is often not great. There are corals and rocks at some points under the water. Moreover in the lower tidal months the water remains shallow for 50 meters or more out to sea. It is great for seeing marine life but not great for swimming and bobbing up and down in the sea. For this reason having access to a swimming pool is important for many visitors to Baan Tai.
The following resorts have swimming pools for guest use: Hacienda Resort and Beach Club, Phangan Beach Resort, Power Beach Resort, Da Kanda Villa Beach Resort, First Villa Resort, Morning Star Resort, Rungarun Resort, Lime n Soda Resort, Phangan Island View Hotel, Sabaii Bay Resort, Phangan Cottage, B52 Beach Resort, Phangan Great Bay Resort, Sunshine Residence, Awe Resort
There aren't any big hotels in Baan Tai. For 5 star hotels you will need to head to Thong Nai Pan Noi in the north-east of Koh Phangan. Those places with hotel style rooms in Baan Tai are: Phangan Island View Hotel, Sabaii Bay Resort, Phangan Great Bay Resort, Dew Shore Resort, Milky Bay Resort and Pimolsuph Resort.
There are a few accommodation providers who offer something different. These are:
- B52 Beach Resort has Bali style villas
- Awe Resort consists of 4 small beachfront villas with a small communal pool
- Palida Resort is also sometimes called Palida Fishing Bungalow as it is situated next to a big pond where you can go freshwater fishing.
- At Charm Beach Resort you can stay in a luxury tree house on the beach. It has great seaviews and if you are nice the staff will bring food and drink up to you.
Few tourists seem that keen on self-catering unless they are planning to stay long-term. Even the hostels don't offer kitchen access (to boost restaurant profits I suspect). However, there are a few accommodation options in Baan Tai where you can cook your own food. They are:
